Modern Religious Experience: Reflection #3- Gandhi: Hindu and Activist: "In class, your small groups went over movie questions about the content in Gandhi. You should know who each of the main characters are and t..."
I think that Ghandi's ideas of Hinduism was Peace and self- sacrifice. He nevered used violence against others except for the fight with his wife. He is not a perfect human being, but he was able to use peace as a weapon to stop violence. He talked people out of many things without using a bit of violence. When he was able to separate Muslims and Hindus by sending Muslims to Pakistan and Hindus to new India; he was able to do it without violence. suddenly, there was a clash between Hindus and Muslims. Most people didn't want to move away from there old home. Ghandi fasted until the civil war was over. He was willing to sacrifice himself in order to find peace. He even went to jail many times for the sake of peace. Ghandi was beaten by the British, but he was not willing to threaten them back with violence. This shows that Ghandi was into self- sacrifice and Peace.
The quote, "A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act." is a good example of Ghandi because he sacrificed himself by fasting. He offers himself for peace. It was a great act that led many people to move forward, but later on into a civil war.
